The City of North Vancouver and the entire North Shore offer a lot for local residents, workers, and visitors. Since 1967, Capilano Mall has held an important place in the community. During that time, there has been tremendous growth and change in the City of North Vancouver and on the North Shore. As the mall’s owner, QuadReal is thinking about the future of Capilano Mall and how it can meet the needs of the community.
Rethinking the Capilano Mall site is an opportunity to consider a modern vision that includes retail and commercial services, in addition to improved personal transportation, affordable housing, and sustainable, healthy, and resilient urban neighbourhoods. A new vision can reflect the values and aspirations that are unique to the City and the North Shore.
There are no imminent changes to mall operations. We are very focused on ensuring that we remain stable and productive in our current configuration. Capilano Mall has the only Walmart on the North Shore and we recently welcomed Northwest Furniture Showcase, which will be a great addition to Capilano Mall in the former Sears location. We value our tenants and customers, as always, and will continue to maintain and grow the current operations to maximize the mall’s potential. We look forward to collaborating on our future plans and ensuring a smooth transition.
